Literary Inspiration

Hello and welcome, it's time for another challenge at Make My Monday. This week Mynnette would like to see projects that have been inspired by Jane Eyre, either by the book cover or the story.
My card was inspired by both the book cover and the story

I used the book cover as the inspiration for my layout. The sentiment, flower and hearts were inspired by the story.

This is the inspiration photograph, Mynnette has helpfully outlined the story on the MMM blog.

Products.
Hobby Art clear solid flower stamp  CSS010
Sentiment from Flonzcarft
Marianne Craftables Die CR1204
Versafine Onyx Black.
Clear Rock Candy distress stickles.
Black and white card stock
Silicone Glue.
Now I have a confession to make  :( the original card looked like this
As you can see no red! but  when the distress stickles had dried  the little cut out hearts on the flower had turned red!... to be honest  I preferred this look to the monochrome so I quickly turned the sparkly heart red with a peel off pen and took a couple more photographs..
I hope you can join us this week, pop across to see how the DT have interpreted  this weeks fabulous challenge.
Take care, thank you for looking, I really appreciate your visits and love to read comments, see you soon

One Layer Week at LIM

. One Layer Cards  at LIM and this week Chrissie and Jen would like us to use a
Coloured Card Blank
Yes that's right, none of your boring, white, ivory, black or kraft card blanks we want to see you add some colour.
So here goes! I chose a colour I wouldn't normally go for, I stamped on of the flowers from Darkroom Door DDRS111 Carved Flowers in Versafine Onyx Black then highlighted with an extra fine white Uni paint marker.
I elongated the flower stems by turning the stamp upside down and lining up...
gave it a bit of a bend which I like
Isn't it amazing how the colours of the base card all look different...  but it really is the same card albeit photographed in different locations... It's tipping down with rain so not a good idea to take it outside!
I would describe the colour as..dark  English mustard / yellowed Khaki..  I think :o)
I kept the card as one layer for the LIM challenge but have  now chopped it down added it to a plain white 15cm square card.
 Thank you for looking

Quick post, quick card.

Hello every one... it's bright and sunny here in Crewe at the moment but it was very wet and blustery this morning..
My son rang me asking for a new baby girl card, urgent, he said, so I cracked on and made this very quick card.
How cute is this.....

Thank you for looking, xx Suzi B xx

My turn for Mid Week Motivation at MMM

Good morning all, welcome to the  MMM mid week motivation
I thought I'd share a grid card using digi images from bitm@p via Etsy.

I printed the download onto A4 card, cut out the square then picked the six I wanted to use.
The second layer of backing paper was made using Versafine Vintage Sepia for the script stamp and Vesafine Onyx Back for the swirl. I used the second stamping for the swirl. The edges of the paper where distressed then  DI Antique Linen added around the edges and slightly into the centre, followed by vintage sepia just on the edges....
I stamped a different swirl around the edges of the first layer then used Vintage Sepia on the edges which had been distressed .  The squares were added via sticky fixes to black card stock and three of the butterflies cut out and layered up.

First layer up from base card.

Second layer.... Distressing not shown on photograph  :(  black card stock with butterfly squares fixed on top of this layer. Then I added the little flower which was part of a jewellery sale bought for a £1 bargain!
Thank you for looking, enjoy your day and have crafty fun.

Colour wheel at LIM

Hello Blogger buddies and welcome, I'm pleased to see you. At last I've been able to join in the fun at LIM after being AWOL for a couple of weeks or so :( This week Chrisie and Jen would like us to choose two opposite colours from a colour wheel.
I chose the colours green and violet/red

Here's mine. For some reason I struggled to get a decent picture. hope you can make it out
 Materials
Papermania Urban Stamps: Botanical Print. randomly coloured direct to stamp with:
Whispers stokes  as near to green and violet/red as I could get.
The sentiment was lying on my desk after being used on another project ( tomorrows actually) so decided to use it again ... it works well with this card. It's one of my "lost stamps"... in other words I've lost the original packaging.

I've outlined various parts of the image... especially the clock fingers or is it hands?! and the dots of the Dandelion.

I hope all the UK bloggers are having a great BH week end, enjoying the sunny weather.... Gosh you people who are not of the UK will perhaps not understand our obsession with the weather... it's sooo variable, we never know from one day to the next or even within the same day! do I need a coat or not, do I need an umbrella?... lol
take care lovely people, see you tomorrow

Circle Journal

April started the Cubby Hole's Circle Journal challenge. There are 14 of us in this challenge which means I wont see my journal again until June 2014!!...
I should have handed my journal in to "The Boss" (Carol owner of the Cubby Hole craft shop) on the 27th but since it was all so last minute (excuses, excuses I'd known about it for a month! ) I actually handed it over on 29th... terrible I know.... Suzanne (Carols right hand woman) will be furious we've had strict instructions from her NOT TO BE LATE handing in our journals!
 Now onto the journal

My chosen subject is "Significant Places" I chose to use a 12"x12" Hobby Craft journal. Which journal to use was a great debate for me...   what size? should I make my own? ... not good for me cos I'm useless at it ,etc etc. In the end I'm glad I went for the 12x12...

This is on the inside front cover explaining why I chose Significant Places

Newborough beach and LLanddwyin Island why this is one of my Significant Places.

Page one about Newborough Forest and  Newborough beach.
page two about Llanddwyn Island and Saint Dwynwen.

The first place I have chosen is  Newborough  Beach and LLanddwyn Island on the Ilse of Angelsey. Even though my journal is 12x 12  it was difficult to only use two pages (rules) and include all the information I wanted to give... hence pockets of photographs with relevant info on the reverse. I would have liked to make a pull out booklet with the photos on but I wasn't sure how to go about it and time was of the essence.
I have amended the rules slightly... they can use peel offs if they absolutely must!!
My next journal belongs to Janet and her chosen subject is Snowdrops. I will blog the journal once it's been handed back to "The Boss" after the 25th May.
thank you for looking, enjoy the wonderful UK weather hope it lasts through the BH
take care
xx Suzi B xx
PS ... my craft room is looking quite tidy...  Blogger is taking so long to upload photos it was difficult just to sit and wait, so in some ways the "Blogger Bother" I'm experiencing at the moment has been ... helpful!

Anything but a card for MMM

Good morning people,  I thought my MMM post would be late, very late! today cos I should be on the train on my way to Chester for the day with my buddies, Maureen, Jenny and Joan but here I am am sat at home with my morning coffee after a horrid night caused by coughing spasms.  I am way behind with  all my projects especially my Circle Journal for the Cubby Hole which should have been ready Saturday.! I finished it 12am last night  I'll give more information about the Circle Journal later this week.

Here's my MMM project which was finished well on time

I'm still having problems uploading photographs, see previous post  I've had to copy this from the MMM Blog....It's a little ATC booklet made with Dylusions Spray inks... and you know I've only got three  lol.
The other side is made from the waste ink mopped up onto card...  I prefer it... sorry I know you can't see it. Maybe I'll be able to sort the uploading problem out and add the other photos later. I used lots of different stamps... wish I'd scheduled the post (which would have had the stamps listed ) at the time of making these ATC's then maybe I wouldn't be in this pickle! lesson learnt... never stop learning do we?
This post looks a bit messy because I had to make the image extra large for you to see it because it wouldn't enlarge as usual once posted onto the blog...  can't you tell I'm having a bad day :o(
Don't forget to pop across to MMM to see the fabulous projects the rest of the DT have made.
Have a good day, I'm off for another coffee and a lie down :o)
xx Suzi B xx

If you would like to see all three photos here's a link to my face book page click on the thumb nails for a bigger picture. xx

Edited Tues 30th
After much investigating and resoring my PC back an earlier date I've managed to upload the missing photos but I think it's a blogger issue

This is the reverse side of the booklet using up the waste ink... I prefer this side.

I hope Blogger settles down ...

Fancy Folds

Good morning all and welcome to this weeks MMM challenge which is to show some fancy folds on your cards or projects.
Here's mine

Products
 Stampendous Jumbo Cling
Dylusions Ink Spray: fresh lime, lemon zest and bubblegum pink..... I only own these three but can't wait to get more.
Archival black
Viva Pearl pen: black
Cartridge paper
Green fine wire
Gems.

I blanked off the top of the card before stamping with Archival black. I then stamped the hydrangea onto cartridge paper that had been prepared with dylusions ink  which I'd spritzed onto a craft sheet then mopped up with the paper. I then cut out the flower head.  I also stamped onto the reverse of the paper and cut out... then stamped again in a random fashion onto the coloured side of this so that I could cover the back of the flower... sounds a bit jumbled but I think you'll get the picture
I stamped the image onto green prepared paper and cut out the stem and leaves.

The butterfly was stamped twice and layered for dimension.  The sentiment is from a mystery bag of homeless stamps ... I put the strays into this bag when I have lost the original packaging  :o)
The team have as usual provide you with lots of inspiration do pop across to MMM have take a look.
Congratulations to everyone who joined in last weeks "make your own background" challenge you were awesome ... it was sooo difficult choosing just hree...
Thank you for stopping by, your visits are important to me and are much appreciated. I hope this week I get round to visiting you.
 Have a good week

Primrose Day

Hello and welcome... tomorrow is my older sisters birthday it just so happens to be Primrose Day as well. My dad always used to say to  Anne ( my sister who is 5yrs older than me and a fabulous artist ... jealous? who moi?.... just a bit ..) that her birthday was also Primrose Day. I never gave this a second thought until I decided to google... this is from Wikipedia
Primrose Day is the anniversary of the death of British statesman and prime minister Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield, on 19 April 1881.[1] The primrose was his favourite flower and Queen Victoria would often send him bunches of them from Windsor and Osborne House. She sent a wreath of primroses to his funeral. On this day Disraeli's statue in Parliament Square, London is decorated with primroses, as is his grave in Hughenden, Buckinghamshire.
I then searched the Internet for a Primrose rubber stamp and found one  by Hobby Art. here's the card.... which  I am not too keen on..
To be honest... this is the updated version

I cut out the leaves and shaped them to add more dimension
Here is the original
Now I'm thinking perhaps I should've left it alone....I know you lovely people will say which you prefer but I don't have time to redo it. I'm off to see Anne tomorrow. She lives a couple of hours away in a place called Warsop near Mansfield. Nottinghamshire. We used to have a lot of fun together, travelling around etc etc
but since she became ill with severe heart and lung problems, it has all been curtailed.... I miss our times together but when we do get together although less frequently we have a great time with many laughs.. especially when our younger sister, Eileen joins us.

Here she is the last time we spent a few days in North Wales, in fact in the same year (2007)  she was confined to a wheel chair... This photo was taken at the bottom of Mount Snowdon, North Wales. I made a srap book for her with all our escapades in glorious colour.. lol

Thank you for looking.
